correction to previous blog
In an earlier blog I referred to Sauvie Island as a peninsula. I of course know that a peninsula is not an island and therefore retract that sentence. I bet you didn't even catch it... but still... it was bugging me for days!
From Los Angeles to Santa Fe and Portland, United States
We are Vickie (35) and Renee (41). In the fall of 2008 we were laid of from jobs in the travel industry where we catered to entertainment peeps and burnt ourselves out trying to please “the man.” After months of jobless floundering, unsure how to avoid the world of cubicles and corporate buzzwords we have both decided to “leap.”
Today, we’ve made decisions that are sure to change things forever. Vickie moved to Santa Fe, NM a week ago with no friends, no family and no plan… just she and her dog, Penny. She rented an adobe for 2 months and signed up for a ceramics class. Renee will be moving to Portland, OR on June 1st where she has grand plans, a bit of family, a few friends and no place to live. Both of us live on unemployment, have withdrawn what little bit was left of our retirement and have no idea when we will see a real paycheck again.
We are starting this blog as a way to document our journey, cheer each other on, and lament the challenges we will face both in reality and in our heads. We are two women in the middle part of our life trying to recreate ourselves. It’s exciting and scary. We hope that at very least, we might inspire just one other person to leap!
